I'm still pretty new to archery, but I've been having fun. My first bow was a hickory longbow made from a single piece of wood. I bought it from StickBowWorld through eBay. More recently I bought a new (well used) bow.
My longbow is well, long (6 feet to be exact) making it hard to bring places. So, I spent some time on eBay and found a break-down recurve. I really like it. It is much more consistant than my longbow.
I've also found a local place I can shoot for free. Well, it's almost free. The grass is really long, so when I miss there's a good chance of loosing arrows.
I've decided to start a real blog. I've been blogging for more than a year, but this is my first stab at a personal blog. My other blog is all about teaching with technology. This one will be about what's up in my life aimed at my friends and family.
I just got back from a "camping trip" with my friends. This is an annual occurrence (although this was only my second year going) and usually involves more camping than we did this time. We used my Grandma's cottage up near Crystal Lake. It's a beautiful place and hopefully will stay in the family. I think our trip could best be described as "Nerdvana". We all had our laptop computers that we networked for gaming. We also played regular role-playing games, shot Ron's rifles and my recurve bow.
The only unfortunate part was the timing of the trip. It ended up coinciding with the "final inspection" of Shera's clinic. The inspectors found several things that need to be done yet, so we'll have another final inspection to come. We're meeting with the contractor and building owner this morning and will hopefully be able to resolve everything soon.
